Routine...Board

So I don't really do New Years Resolutions...But I did set Three goals for myself this year. So yeah, they're new years resolutions.
1) I am going to take time for myself every day. Even if it's just closing my kids out of the bathroom for 5 minutes to use the bathroom (and okay, get a little reading done ;0) ALONE.
This is really almost the same as #1

2)I am going to take time EVERY day to exercise...I actually don't struggle with exercising (generally) I love to exercise, I love feeling my body get stronger. So, even if it's just 15minutes wild crazy dancing with lots of squats and jumping and high low movements along with the girls...I'll take it! I sleep and feel so much better when I am challenging my body. I also want to stay in shape so that I can run 2 or 3 more 5k races (or even a 10k) this year...We'll have to see how the year pans out.

And my biggest challenge:

3) I am going to get our family on a more set and consistent routine. We have little rituals around certain parts of the day...We always wake up. ;0) We almost always watch TV for a bit in the morning while I nurse Friendly and drink some tea. We always eat a bite of lunch before we go take naps. And we have a whole elaborate bedtime routine and have for almost 3 years.

And with that goal in mind I made this:

All the pictures and words are Velcro'd on except for "Wake Up" and "Bed Time" I'm not done, I need to pick up more velcro to finish it up...But I'm super excited. I think Roo will get really into deciding what special things (Story Time, Library Day, Grocery Shopping Day [usually Thurs], Craft Time etc) we are going to put where each day... The basics (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, bath, bed) will all stay in the same spot for the most part. I am also hoping that this structure will help just general naughtiness/misbehavior's that could totally be avoided if we were on task with some thing. Morning TV time is also "Mommie drinks her tea and does as she pleases [aka wakes up] time"

Here's hoping this will be a good change. ? Here's to the New Year!

  1. We have a magnetic picture/schedule board and we love it! It works perfect and especially helps with tricky transition times!
